The Content Management module provides the ability to download static images, animations, audio and video files to devices. Once the content is loaded into the VHQ using VHQ GUI, it can be scheduled to be downloaded to selected devices.
The Dashboard screen is the main screen displayed when you log on to the VHQ. The VHQ Dashboard provides access to several mini applications called widgets. These widgets give quick access and allow real-time monitoring of operation statistical and graphical forms through Dashboard. The VHQ Dashboard provides a strong administration to monitor devices and access vital information. VHQ dashboard is connected to live data that gets automatically updated in real time.
The widgets on the Dashboard screen are categorized as:

The Device Search is one of the main user features of VHQ. This feature allows you to narrow down your search by providing the hierarchy or group as your criteria to search for devices. This feature provides the device search option and returns a quick access to the desired devices across the application, thus saving time in locating data to be viewed. This feature allows user to immediately search for the devices (Over Serial Number, Device ID, Hierarchy Path, Model, Device Status, Groups, IP Address, MAC Address, M-Level Part Number, Agent Version and Location Identifier). The search can be performed to list the required devices by giving a search criteria on all the device related screens.
You can search for devices in the following ways:
Learn about Standard Reports and Custom Reports, steps to customize the standard report, and to subscribe to reports.
The Report feature in VHQ allows you to view the standard reports, customize and create new reports by applying the required filters. These Reports are called as Custom Reports.
Learn how to configure users and roles, and configure LDAP users.
The User Management feature enables you to create users and, then assign rights to Roles in VHQ. A Role in VHQ is a collection of predefined rights or privileges in VHQ, and the users associated with a given role can access the privileges defined as part of the given role. The VHQ system administrator is responsible for managing user related tasks.
EXAMPLE: The predefined role in VHQ called VF Admin has all the assigned VHQ rights or privileges. The users in VHQ associated with the VF Admin role are entitled to have full rights in VHQ.
A key part of administrators is to create user accounts. The user accounts allow tracking and managing information about users, including permissions and privileges. The user can configure to authenticate the requester login with Active Directory (AD) and VHQ.
Learn how to configure hierarchies, configure source IP validation, manage inactive devices, manage groups, and manage system configuration.
VHQ Estate Administration helps you to administer devices on the basis of Hierarchy, Groups and Source IP Validations. This feature enables you to quickly interact and manage the security of the devices.
To administer devices:
Device Management is the core functionality of VHQ. Device Management functionality simplifies deployment, organization and remote management of a wide range of devices.
Device Management provides a way to manage devices by notifying feature of changes that may affect the operations of devices. This feature enables you to administer the devices, including securing, monitoring, and integrating.
Devices are identified by their Serial Numbers and Models.
Devices are organized under two categories:
Verifone HQ (VHQ) is Verifone’s next generation estate management software suite that eliminates operational burdens. It empowers the user with management tools for data collection, downloads, remote diagnostics, and content management. VHQ leverages wide range of experience to provide best of breed estate management capabilities across a variety of platforms and supports growth-oriented, customer-friendly deployment models.
VHQ is the powerful and dynamic estate management solution that transforms the estate challenges into dynamic opportunities. With Verifone HQ, retailers now have a way to simplify complex device operations and reduce overall support costs, all while easily integrating into their current environment. VHQ elevates estate management to an entirely new level, giving retailers everything they need and more in one robust solution.
VHQ supports remote access and provides real-time operations and performance data to help lower costs, make more informed business decisions, and increase ROI. VHQ provides the ability to organize, manage and monitor thousands of devices, irrespective of their size or location. VHQ allows the user to easily deploy new technologies such as, alternative payments, mobile wallets, or on-screen promotional messaging.
This help describes the usage of VHQ in detail. It covers the features supported in managing devices (including device search), managing content, reports, administering an estate and managing users. It also provides answers to some common questions that often arise while using VHQ.
The Alert Administration tab provides a summary of settings for alerts that notify users of important events occurring at the device level as well at the server level.
The user can edit the following alert parameters:
NOTE: Open Alerts should be reviewed by user and the status of these alerts should be marked as CLOSED in the VHQ GUI.
Alerts that are in the OPEN state will get automatically purged from the VHQ system after 90 days have elapsed from the date these alerts were generated. The purge durations given above are configurable values. Please contact with your VHQ Administrator if you want to change these values or if you want to verify the current configured values.
The software downloads are managed by software distribution and device application management system. The software management feature is a quick and efficient method for simultaneously downloading applications to multiple devices. POS devices use transaction automation applications for processing their transactions. These applications are usually downloaded into the device during device deployment and are upgraded when required. When the number of devices requiring a download is large, it becomes very difficult and time consuming to download applications to the devices individually. The software management feature allows you to manage software on a large number of devices across the system with the help of Packages and Reference Sets for application download.
The download management also supports simultaneous download of multiple applications to multiple devices and offers several unique and powerful features including:
This feature provides the user with a powerful and customized download methods to manage the software on the Devices. The user can select to manage the software automatically (Automated Downloads) or manually through a controlled environment.
VeriShield Remote Key (VRK) is a solution for automated download and deployment of new encryption keys to POS Devices. The solution enables remote and secure management of key injection. The devices need not change the location; meet the network downtime and the risk of fraud.
VRK system generates Keys in the form of Key Bundles (KBs). The Key Bundle (KB) is a “.zip” (for VX eVo devices) or “.tgz” (for V/OS devices) file that contains one or more Key Payloads (KP).
The VRK Bundle is uploaded to the VHQ system. Once uploaded the Bundle is processed, and the key payloads are extracted and validated against the device serial number and device model. The VRK Bundle file is then, removed from the VHQ system and the event is logged under the VHQ audit log table. However, the relevant entry in this VRK bundle will still be retained in VRK Bundle library in VHQ.
Each key payload that contains one or more sets of Key files creates a job and is sent to the specific devices to be downloaded.
VRK key payloads that are downloaded and installed successfully are removed from VHQ server and the record of all such automatic deletions can be viewed in the VHQ audit log table. The history of the VRK audit operations is retained in the VHQ database, for at least 365 days.
