Learn about the functionality of device moved alert.
The VHQ Server has an option to move the device to the matching hierarchy However, if the server does not find a matching hierarchy; the devices are moved to the root hierarchy or retained in the current hierarchy based on the configuration.
For a device to get automatically moved by VHQ server to the correct hierarchy location, the below conditions MUST be satisfied:
1. In Administration > Estate Administration > System Configuration > System Category, you must set the option “Move Device on Location Mismatch” to TRUE.
2. VHQ hierarchy must be correctly set up with unique IP address range in all the nodes and there should be NO overlapping IP address ranges in VHQ hierarchy nodes.
3. The device must send latest device profile details to the VHQ server with its current IP address. Device profile details are automatically sent by VHQ Agent once every 24 hours, on every reboot, on key-exchange and whenever the Get Device Profile operation is scheduled from VHQ GUI for given device.
4. VHQ Alert Engine service must be running in VHQ server.
Once the device sends latest device profile details to VHQ server and all the conditions given above are satisfied, then within 10 minutes the VHQ server will automatically move the device to correct node in a hierarchy that has matching IP address range and generates a
device moved alert if Generate Device Moved Alert option is set to TRUE from VHQ GUI configuration screen in Administration tab.
