Learn how to organize the devices under specific hierarchy and group.
Devices are identified by their Serial Numbers and Models and are organized under two categories:
- Hierarchy
- Group
Hierarchy Assignment
Hierarchies are the basis for user and device organization. VHQ hierarchies allow a high degree of flexibility and granularity in organizing devices with up to fifteen levels of specificity. You can administer devices by hierarchy.
Editing Hierarchy Assignment
Devices are managed in the hierarchy. You can change the device hierarchy by editing hierarchy in Device Profile.
To edit hierarchy of the device:
- Select the Serial Number checkbox corresponding to device serial numbers in the Device Search.
- On the Actions Window, Click Edit Hierarchy to change hierarchy assignment.
- Select the hierarchy level and then click Set Hierarchy in the Select Hierarchy screen to save the changes.
Editing Group Assignment
You can add or delete the devices to the groups.
To add device to group(s):
- Select the Serial Number checkbox corresponding to device serial numbers in the Device Search. The Actions window is displayed.
- Click Group > Assign Group. The Add Group Assignments screen is displayed. You must select at least one group.
To delete device to group(s):
- Select the checkbox corresponding to device serial numbers in the Device Search screen.
- On the Actions Window, select Unassign Group. The Delete Group Assignments screen is displayed.
- You can select multiple check boxes to delete the groups assigned to them. Click Save to apply the changes or click Cancel to close the screen.
