Search by Hierarchy, Group or Additional Attributes

Learn how to search for devices to tailor search results in a specific way.

To search for a device:

  1. Go to Device Search. The Device Search screen is displayed to search for devices by Hierarchy or Group.
  2. You can further narrow down your search with two different types of view:
  • List View: Displays a list of items.
  • Tree View: Presents a hierarchical view of items. 

You can search for devices in the following ways:

    • Search by Hierarchy, Group or Additional Attributes
    • Saved Search
NOTE: Apart from Reports, the search criteria display the search text based on the device search. However, in Reports, the search criteria, displays the search result based on column filter and device search.

Device Search allows you to tailor search results in a specific way. This feature categories your search options in a single location providing a more flexible way of searching. Its enhancing search feature allows you to select devices from multiple hierarchies, models and with different combination of attributes. You can customize the existing search criteria or create new criteria and save the search criteria for future use.

NOTE:

Attributes cannot be repeated during Search by Hierarchy, Group or Additional Attributes.

The search can be performed according to:

  • Hierarchy
  • Group
  • Additional Attributes

Hierarchy-based Search

You can perform more specific search according to the hierarchy level.

To perform an advanced search within a hierarchy in List view:

  1. Select the hierarchical level and then click Add(Add Hierarchy) to add hierarchy to search. You can drill down by clicking on the selected hierarchy in order to view the child hierarchy. The Search Criteria section is displayed with the hierarchy added. You can also add multiple hierarchies.

  2. Select the attribute from the drop-down list in Select Attributes section. The operator and value fields are displayed.
  3. Select the operator and then enter the appropriate value for the selected operator in the respective boxes.
  4. Click Add(Add Attribute) in Select Attributes section. The Search Criteria section is displayed with the attribute added. You can also add multiple attributes.

  5. Click Delete to delete the attribute.

  6. You can save the search and make the search as Public or Private. Enter the search name in the Save search box. Click Save. The search is saved successfully based on the option selected.
  7. Click Apply Filter to search for the data.

NOTE:

The Last searches made or saved as Public or Private is viewed under Saved Search.


To perform an advanced search within a hierarchy in the Tree view:

The tree view contains the hierarchies in leaf nodes and container nodes. The root node which is the top most container node can be expanded and collapsed to view the container nodes. You can view and interact with a hierarchically arranged collection, using either one selection or multiple selection. Click Right arrow greyto expand and Collapse nodecollapse the nodes.

  1. Select the hierarchy and then click Add(Add to criteria). The Search Criteria section is displayed with the added hierarchy level.

  2. Select the attribute from the drop-down list in the Select Attributes section. The operator and value fields are displayed.
  3. Select the operator and then enter the appropriate value for the selected operator in the respective boxes.
  4. Click Add(Add Attribute) in Select Attributes section. The Search Criteria section is displayed with the attribute added. You can also add multiple attributes.
  5. You can save the search and make the search as Public or Private. Enter the search name in the Save search box.
  6. Click Save. The search is saved successfully based on the option selected.
  7. Click Apply Filter to search for the data.

Group-based Search

You can perform more specific search according to the group.

To perform an advanced search by group:

  1. Go to Device Search. The Device Search screen is displayed.
  2. Click Group.
  3. Select the group check boxes to select the group. The Search Criteria box is displayed, with the details added.

  4. Select the attribute from the drop-down list in the Select Attributes section. The operator and value fields are displayed.
  5. Select the operator and then enter the appropriate value for the selected operator in the respective boxes.
  6. Click Add(Add Attribute) in Select Attributes section. The Search Criteria section is displayed with the attribute added. You can also add multiple attributes.
  7. You can save the search and make the search as Public or Private. Enter the search name in the Save search box.
  8. Click Save. The search is saved successfully based on the option selected.
  9. Click Apply Filter to search for the data.

    NOTE:

    The Last searches made or saved as Public or Private is viewed under Saved Search.

You have the ability to search devices by creating additional attribute. This is often needed to search for the relevant device information that is not in the default search criteria.

To search for devices by attributes:

    1. Go to Device Search. The Device Search screen is displayed.

    5. Click Apply Filter. The Device Search screen is displayed with the search results.
