Device Configuration

Learn about the device configurations that can be performed in Device Profile screen. 

As a part of the configuration process, there are device specific configurations a user can perform in a Device Profile screen.  You can schedule, re-schedule  or cancel downloads, schedule or cancel diagnostic actions, assigning a software, configure serial number and device ID, configure hierarchy and groups to a device, delete a device, blacklist a device, change the device status, and close an alert.

Configurations

You can perform the following configurations in a Device Profile screen:

  1. Configuring Downloads
  2. Configuring Software(s)
  3. Device Configuration

NOTE:

The below mentioned configurations can be performed for multiple devices through Device Search -> Device Actions, for more details refer to the Actions in Device Profile section.

 

Configuring Downloads Scheduling Downloads 

Schedule option DP

  1. Schedule Content Download -  Click Content to  Schedule/re-schedule a Content Download for the device. Refer to the Scheduling Content for Download section for more details.
    NOTE: The Content download option is available only for MX, Raptor and Carbon devices and if you have the license to use this module.
  2.  Schedule Diagnostic Actions  - Click Diagnostic Actions to schedule/cancel the diagnostic actions for the device. Refer to the Scheduling Actions section for more details.
  3. Schedule Downloads - Click Downloads to schedule/re-schedule downloads for the device. Refer to the Scheduling Downloads.
 Reschedule the failed downloads

1. Click Download tab.

2. Click Details. The Details screen is displayed.

3. Select the device.

4. ClickReschedule(Reschedule) to reschedule the failed downloads.

 Cancel Jobs

1. Click Download tab.

2. Click Jobs to view the download information.

3. Select the Job and then click Cancel Download(Cancel Download) with Scheduled Job status to cancel the download.

Cancel VRK Jobs

1. Click VRK tab.

2. Click Jobs to view the information on key payloads.

3. ClickCancel Download(Cancel Download) to cancel the download.

Reschedule the VRK failed downloads

1. Click VRK tab.

2. Click Details. The Details section is displayed.

3. Select the device.

4. ClickReschedule(Reschedule) to reschedule the VRK failed downloads.

 Cancel Diagnostic Action

1. Click Diagnostic Actions tab.

2. Click Jobs to view the device jobs related details.

3. Select the Job and then clickCancel Download(Cancel Action) to cancel the action.

4. Click Details to view the complete device information.

 Configuring Software Configuring Software for Downloads

Software option DP

  1. Software Assignment - Click Software Assignment to assign a software to the device. The software assignment is assigning a software to the device for download.  It is mandatorily an automated download.  You can assign the software packages to a device or multiple devices. The software assignment feature gives intelligence to your downloads. You can directly assign software packages to devices or to Hierarchy. The feature allows you to schedule Manual or Automated software downloads to the devices. The software assignment feature allows you to conveniently manage software upgrades. Refer to the Device Assignment Report section for more details.
  2. Click Software Upgrade - Click Software Upgrade to assign the software upgrade. The software upgrade feature allows you to upgrade software packages on multiple devices from Device Search/Filter - > Actions screen, and single device from Device Profile screen.

 Device Configurations  Configuring Device Status

 Active option DP

  1. Active – Included in the customer’s estate and active.
  2. Pending Registration – Included in the customer’s estate. A device in this state is not yet registered with the VHQ Server. When devices are pre-boarded in VHQ, such devices are set to the "Pending Registration" state. The user will not be able to manually change the state of such devices.
  3. Pending Hierarchy Assignment – Included in the customer’s estate but pending manual hierarchy assignment or automatic assignment through IP Address range mapping. These devices are assigned to the root hierarchy level. These devices are sending heartbeats and communicating with the VHQ server.
  4. Inactive – Included in the Customer’s Estate but inactive. This is when a device is out for repair or in the spare pool but expected to be online in future, and has been marked as "Inactive" from VHQ GUI. When such devices communicate with VHQ Server in future, the device status will automatically change to either "Active" or "Pending Hierarchy Assignment". Also, the device will be automatically moved to the correct node in the hierarchy, if the "automatic device movement" feature is enabled in VHQ.
  5. Delete - Removed from the estate. A record of this device is retained for audit purpose. The device profile of this device is viewable from the "Deleted Devices" feature in VHQ GUI. Any heartbeat from devices in the "Deleted" state will be ignored, and the Server will generate the "Deleted Device Contacting" alert. The device is not expected neither to be online nor to connect with the VHQ Server in future. If a device is accidentally deleted, then it is possible to undelete it from the "Deleted Devices" list in VHQ GUI.
  6. Blacklist - Permanently removed from the estate. A record of this device is retained for audit purposes. The device profile of such device is viewable from the "Deleted Devices" feature in VHQ GUI. Any heartbeat from devices in the "Blacklisted" state will be ignored, and the Server will generate the "Blacklisted Device Contacting" alert. The device is not expected neither be online nor to connect with the VHQ Server in future. If a device is accidentally blacklisted, it is NOT possible to undo this operation from VHQ GUI, and you need to contact Verifone VHQ support team to undo this operation.
  7. Swapped-out - The device ID is swapped for a new device as a shop gap arrangement.

Configuring Device ID and Serial Number

1. Click Edit user(Edit Serial Number/Device ID) to edit the Serial number/Device ID.

2. Click Save to save the changes or Cancel to cancel the action.
NOTE:
The Serial Number of the device can be added/modified only if the device is Added manually /through File Import, or if the device status is in Pending Registration.

Configuring Hierarchy for a Device

  1. ClickEdit Hierarchy to edit the currently assigned hierarchy.
  2. Select the hierarchy level and then click Set Hierarchy in the Select Hierarchy screen to save the changes or Cancel to cancel the action.
 Configuring Group Assignment
  1. ClickEdit Groupsto edit the currently assigned groups.
  2. Select the Groups and then click Save to save the changes or Cancel to cancel the action.
Delete a Device
  1. Click Delete Deviceto delete device.
  2. The Confirmation message box is displayed. Click Yes to delete device or No to cancel the action.
Blacklist a Device
  1. ClickBlacklist Deviceto blacklist the device.
  2. The Confirmation message box is displayed. Click Yes to blacklist the device or No to cancel the action.

 Alert Configuration

Add Notes to Alert

1. Click Alerts tab.

2. Double click on the Alerts. The Edit Alert screen is displayed.Edit Alert

3. Enter the notes in Add new notes text box. The notes give you a quick and simple understanding or information to the alert (s).

4. Click Save to save the note.

5. Click Save and Close Alert to save the note and close the alert.

6. Click Close to cancel the action.

Close Alerts 

1. Click Alerts tab.

2. Select the alert and then clickClose Selected Alerts(Close Selected Alerts) to close the alert.

 Custom Attributes Configuration

Add Custom Attributes

1. Click Custom Attributes tab.
Dev Custom Attributes

2.  Add the values Device Custom Attribute Label Configuration.

3.  Click Save to save the values.

4.  Click Cancel to cancel the operation.
